Congrats to Maruqette University winning the 2015 Big East Conference and Cardinal Stretch University winning the CCAC Championship! Marquette will now advance to the NCAA Regionals and Stretch will advance to the NIAA Championships in Daytona Beach!
Last month I wrote about the WSGA and the competitive opportunities they host for all handicaps. The Wisconsin PGA runs or is the "window" for several junior tours throughout the summer. These "tours" provide opportunities for all ages and skill levels. I counted over 88 junior events listed. I still have good memories of playing in the Milwaukee County Parks Junior Tour back in the 1960's. Is Tom Duke who beat me in a playoff at Lincoln Park still around? The County continues these events today. Go to www.wisconsinpga.com for details and tab into "junior golf" or call the Wisconsin PGA at 414-443-3570.
Did you know....We are fortunate in Wisconsin to have one of the most respected golf associations in the country, the WSGA. The WSGA runs over 60 events during the summer for all golfers, scratch and high handicappers. There is a Senior Tour held throughout the summer. These are gross and handicap one day events. This year they are held at some of the best courses in the state, including: Strawberry Creek, Blackwolf Run-Meadow Valley, Oconomowoc CC, Whistling Straights Irish, Racine CC, The Bog, Pine Hills CC, Bulls Eye CC, Grand Geneva Brute, Maple Bluff and the final event at Wild Rock.
The WSGA also holds a Net Partners Tour held at 10 courses during the summer. These are strictly handicap events, so grab a partner and sign up!
Both these tours were started 4 or 5 years ago and have become very popular. Sign up date for WSGA events start on February 12th 8:00 AM. Sign up early and often! Some of the above tournaments can fill up on the first day.
